Play with a Copy Machine: David Hockney's Homemade Prints Workshop

2025.11.22 (Sat) - 11.23 (Sun) 15:00-17:00

David Hockney has produced prints throughout his artistic career. From etching plates to lithography, he never ceased exploring new techniques, never restrained by the basic functions of any medium; instead, he keeps pushing boundaries.

In 1986, Hockney began experimenting with the newly introduced color photocopier and discovered that it could be used innovatively as a printmaking machine. He created a set of “homemade print” techniques that bridge traditional methods and modern technology.

In this workshop, we will follow Hockney’s unique printmaking method and dive into the playful world of the photocopier. Using mixed materials, bold colors, and layered plate-making, you will create a fun, expressive, and highly personal print.
